Runway to the Cure - Support for The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA)
Runway to the Cure is a grassroots fundraising gala that benefits The Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting research to find treatments and a cure for Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA). FA is a rare, genetic neuromuscular disease that begins in childhood with balance and coordination difficulties. It progresses over time and can lead to a life-altering loss of mobility, as well as debilitating fatigue, life-shortening cardiac complications, and slurred speech.
David Wolf has been a proud supporter of FARA and the FA community since 2022. He has attended multiple charity bike rides and sponsored grassroots events throughout Florida to help make a difference in the lives of FA patients, including good friends Shandra and Christian, whom his daughter (Megan) met while attending the University of Florida.
There is 1 treatment for FA that slows disease progression, but there is nothing available to give mobility and independence back to these patients. Many promising treatments are in development that have the potential to make the FA a burden of the past, and it takes huge efforts from this small community to fundraise and bring these treatments forward.
David Alan Wolf - Personal Injury Attorney - sponsored the Runway to the Cure, an evening of hope, friendship, and action that raised over $120,000 for FARA in support of FA research. Shandra, Christian, and 8 other FA patients attended the event - a unique gala set inside an airplane hangar at Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport. Dinner, drinks, music, dancing, and smiles decorated the evening, and important research will be funded as a result.
As a lifelong Floridian, David Wolf is proud of his roots and does his best to give back to the community by supporting organizations like FARA and others.
