Hang 8 Dog Surfing Contest - Flagler Beach, Florida
Flagler Beach is located between St. Augustine Beach to the North and Daytona Beach to the South. It is a beach town focused on community, families, our sea turtles and visiting Right Whales, visitors / tourism, families, and, yes, our canine friends. David Wolf is a proud sponsor of a local event that made waves locally and nationally in the form of the Hang 8 Dog Surfing Contest. The event was organized by Mayor Suzie Johnston and City Commissioner Eric Cooley. The following events filled the day with some fun and awesome canine athleticism that graced the beach on 5th Street South just a few blocks away from the Flagler Beach and Funky Pelican Restaurant. The first event was the tandem human / dog surfing competition. This was followed by the large dog competition, consume contest, and the small dog competition. The beach was filled with dogs (big and small) and residents / visitors of all ages.
All proceeds from the Hang 8 Dog Surfing Contest were donated to non-profit organizations including the Flagler County Humane Society. During the event, volunteers walked dogs waiting for adoption through the beach and crowd. There were a number of vendors / sponsors on the beach as well including a tent set up by David Alan Wolf - Personal Injury Attorney. This tent gave out free beach balls to kids and those young at heart. Over 250 dog baggy holders were also distributed. In total, over 5,000 doggy bags were distributed to help keep the beach and Flagler Beach clean during the event and in the future.
